As the number of internet subscriptions rises, Nigerian telecom companies should expect their revenue to improve this year.
According to the most recent data from the Nigerian Communications Commission, the mobile network operators MTN, Airtel, Globacom, and 9mobile increased their number of mobile subscribers by 9 million between January and June of this year (NCC).
By the end of June 2022, the four telecom carriers had 151 million internet subscribers, up from 141.9 million in December of the previous year.
The operators have lost 14 million subscriptions as of the same time in 2021. The government’s prohibition on new SIM registration, which was in place from December 2020 to April 2021, has been attributed as a major cause for this.
