Kunle Adedeji Takes Over as Acting CEO of Stanbic IBTC After Sogunle’s Retirement

Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc has announced the retirement of its Chief Executive Officer, Demola Sogunle, after an incredible 35 years of service. Sogunle, who has played a crucial role in shaping the company’s success, will officially step down on October 31, 2024.

In a statement, Stanbic IBTC’s Board of Directors expressed their deep appreciation for Sogunle’s leadership and dedication, which has seen the company through numerous milestones and challenges. They said, “Sogunle’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment have left an indelible mark on the company’s growth and resilience.”

Following Sogunle’s retirement, Dr. Kunle Adedeji has been appointed as the Acting Chief Executive Officer, with his tenure beginning on November 1, 2024. The appointment has already received regulatory approval.

Adedeji, who currently serves as the Chief Finance and Value Management Officer, brings more than 25 years of banking experience to the role. He has been with Stanbic IBTC since 2019 and holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Lagos and a Doctorate in Business Administration from SBS Swiss Business School. His extensive experience and strong leadership within the organisation position him perfectly to guide Stanbic IBTC into its next phase of growth.

The Board of Directors is confident in Adedeji’s ability to drive the company’s strategy forward, stating, “Dr. Adedeji’s financial expertise and leadership skills make him the right fit to continue building on the strong foundation Sogunle has established.”
