20,000 Africans to Receive Cloud-Native Training Under Andela-CNCF Partnership

Andela, a global talent outsourcing company, has joined forces with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) to train 20,000 Africans in cloud-native skills over the next three years. This strategic partnership aims to bridge the global talent gap in cloud-native technologies while equipping African developers with industry-relevant expertise.  

What the Training Entails

The free program will focus on Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies, essential tools for modern software development. Participants will prepare for certifications, including:  

– Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA)  

– Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)  

The training, spanning six to nine months, will be accessible to Andela’s talent marketplace, which comprises over 150,000 tech professionals, primarily from Africa. It also includes mentorship opportunities and a supportive learning community.  

Addressing the Global Cloud Skills Shortage  

The partnership arrives at a crucial time when businesses globally face a shortage of skilled cloud professionals. This shortage has led to delayed projects, increased costs, and reduced competitiveness. By 2025, there are projected to be 7.5 million unfilled cloud-related positions globally.  

Chris Aniszczyk, CTO of CNCF, highlighted the partnership’s significance, stating, “By collaborating with Andela, we aim to empower African developers and bridge the global tech talent gap.”

This collaboration also reflects the increasing recognition of African talent as a solution to global tech challenges. By enabling certifications like KCNA and CKAD, the program will prepare developers for high-demand roles in cloud computing and software development.
