In an unexpected turn of events, Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media & Publicity, has decided to step down from his role. His reason? Family comes first.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page, Ngelale revealed that he’s taking an indefinite leave of absence to focus on some serious health concerns affecting his immediate family. “I’ve had to make the tough decision to take a break from my duties as the President’s spokesperson and focus on what’s happening at home,” he explained.
Ngelale, who has been a trusted voice for the Presidency, said it wasn’t an easy choice, but after discussing it with his family, he knew it was the right thing to do. “The situation has gotten worse, and I need to be there for my loved ones.”
The Presidency’s Response
In response to his announcement, the Presidency expressed its full support for Ngelale and his family. In a statement, President Tinubu thanked him for his hard work and dedication, especially his efforts in pushing forward important national discussions, including climate action.
“We send our prayers and best wishes to Ngelale and his family during this challenging time. His contributions have been invaluable, and we hope for a quick resolution and return,” the statement read.
A Break, Not a Goodbye
While Ngelale steps away from the national spotlight, it’s clear that this isn’t a final farewell. He hopes to return to his role when the time is right, once his family situation is under control. For now, the President’s media office will carry on, but Ngelale’s presence will surely be missed.
Sometimes, even the busiest people need to pause, and for Ngelale, this is one of those times. The nation waits, with hope and prayers, for his family’s recovery and his eventual return to public service.
