Egypt Unveils Deloitte’s First Innovation Hub with $30 Million Investment to Boost Digital Services

Cairo, Egypt – Egypt’s technology landscape reached a new milestone with the launch of the Deloitte Innovation Hub, marking Deloitte’s first digital services center dedicated to the export of advanced tech solutions from the country. Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, officially inaugurated the hub, which is backed by a $30 million investment over the next three years. This initiative is set to enhance Egypt’s presence in the digital economy, leveraging its skilled workforce to support clients across Europe and the Middle East.

The new Deloitte Innovation Hub will deliver a suite of digital solutions, including Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and Marketing & Commerce services. Aiming to create over 5,000 jobs in Egypt, the hub will support diverse industries while tapping into the country’s young, tech-savvy talent pool.

Speaking at the launch, Deloitte’s Innovation Hub leader, Hani Girgis, emphasized the initiative’s importance in developing local talent and positioning Egypt as a tech services leader. “This hub is designed to be more than just an operations center—it’s a springboard for local innovation and a platform to deliver value to clients across Europe and the region,” said Girgis.

Minister Amr Talaat hailed the launch as a testament to the international confidence in Egypt’s role as a growing hub for IT services. He highlighted Egypt’s commitment to building a knowledge-based economy that fosters digital exports and creates high-quality employment for the nation’s youth. “Our nation is well-positioned to become a destination for digital services exports due to our skilled, tech-savvy workforce and strong governmental support,” Talaat noted, citing Egypt’s digital exports of $6.2 billion in 2023.

In the past year, Egypt has focused on digital economy growth, with digital exports increasing by 26% from $4.9 billion in 2022 to $6.2 billion in 2023. The government’s strategy includes training programs aimed at expanding the outsourcing and freelancing workforce, with goals to create 130,000 outsourcing professionals by 2024 and 550,000 by 2026.

The launch of the Deloitte Innovation Hub aligns with Egypt’s ongoing digital transformation initiatives. Ahmed El Zaher, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), shared that Egypt’s ICT sector contributed 5.1% to the country’s GDP in the last fiscal year, underscoring the sector’s rapid expansion. “The Innovation Hub strengthens Egypt’s digital economy, supporting our efforts to deliver innovative tech solutions that align with global market demands,” El Zaher remarked.

The hub’s opening comes amid rising interest in Egypt’s potential as a digital services exporter. Earlier this year, Telecom Egypt partnered with Huawei Cloud to introduce Huawei’s first public cloud platform in Northern Africa, advancing Egypt’s strategic plan to become a regional digital leader. These partnerships, along with significant investments, aim to meet growing demand for advanced tech services within Africa and beyond.
