Eyowo Launches Better Card, a Digital First Mastercard

This week, Eyowo unveiled its Digital First payment offering, The Better Card, which is Mastercard-certified. As one of the first partners in Nigeria to join Mastercard’s Digital First Card Program, Eyowo provides its customers with a best-in-class digital banking experience. This includes digital access to card information, unparalleled payment security, and access to a wide range of payment options (e-commerce, contactless, and QR) from any digital device of their choosing.

The Better Card, powered by Providus Bank, provides customers with a seamless payment experience that eliminates the risk of card fraud by securely storing their payment credentials in the Eyowo X mobile app.

Customers of Eyowo can easily apply online and receive their Better Card digitally, including the 16-digit card number and expiration date. Once activated, digital cards can be used to make purchases online, in apps, and at point-of-sale via digital wallet offerings.

Customers will also receive an innovative physical card that does not contain sensitive information, such as the card number or expiration date, providing the ultimate protection against personal and financial information theft.

The cards are part of Mastercard’s efforts to improve the safety and security of online banking and contactless transactions by providing expert guidance to fintech and issuing banks to create end-to-end digital payment options at scale.

Eyowo aims to improve people’s relationships with money by redefining each user’s understanding of saving, spending, and investing.

The Eyowo X mobile app provides users with curated knowledge of their card transactions by providing a daily summary, allowing them to keep track of their spending and, as a result, cultivate better financial habits. This is in addition to other in-app features, such as managing multiple bank accounts, tracking and controlling spending, and growing money.

The Better Card was initially distributed to 500 users and is now available to the general public via the Eyowo X mobile app, which can be downloaded from the Apple iOS App Store and the Google Play Store.
