Femi Otedola Donates N3.7 Billion for Engineering Faculty at Augustine University

Nigerian billionaire and philanthropist, Femi Otedola, has announced a donation of N3.7 billion to fund the construction of a new building for the Faculty of Engineering at Augustine University, Ilara Epe. The announcement was made during the university’s 6th convocation ceremony, where Otedola, the Chancellor of the institution, reaffirmed his dedication to advancing education and developing a world-class engineering program.

In his address, Otedola expressed pride in the university’s progress and shared his vision of establishing Augustine University as a center of excellence for engineering studies. He revealed that the contract for Phase 2 of the building project is nearing completion, with construction expected to conclude within the next 12 months.

“I am pleased to announce the donation of the Phase 2 building for the Engineering Faculty at a cost of N3.7 billion,” Otedola stated. “By God’s grace, I hope to be with you this time next year to inaugurate the completed building.”

This donation follows Otedola’s previous support, which included funding the completion of Phase 1 of the Engineering Faculty, further highlighting his commitment to the institution’s development. In addition, he pledged an additional N140 million for furnishing the building once completed, and N110 million for the installation of campus-wide street lights and a standby generator.

The expansion is designed to accommodate Augustine University’s growing student population and equip the Faculty of Engineering with state-of-the-art facilities, preparing students for the evolving demands of the engineering field.

During the convocation, Otedola emphasized the importance of producing graduates who are not only technically skilled but also grounded in moral integrity and committed to serving society—values that align with Augustine University’s mission.

This donation builds on Otedola’s significant contributions to the university in recent years. In 2023, he launched a scholarship program for both new and returning students at Augustine University, donating N1 million to each of the institution’s 750 students. The total scholarship amount reached N750 million, providing financial relief for approximately 500 returning students and 250 incoming students enrolled for the 2023/2024 academic session.

Femi Otedola’s philanthropy highlights his unwavering commitment to advancing education in Nigeria. With a net worth of $1.4 billion as recognized by Forbes, his generous support continues to shape the future of Augustine University and reinforce its position as a leading academic institution.
