FirstBank Expands Digital Banking with Fifth Digital Xperience Centre in Lekki

FirstBank has unveiled its fifth Digital Xperience Centre on Admiralty Way, Lekki, Lagos, reinforcing its commitment to next-generation banking in Nigeria. This latest expansion is part of the bank’s ongoing strategy to digitize banking services, providing customers with fast, efficient, and fully automated transactions.

A New Era of Automated Banking

The Digital Xperience Centre is designed to offer customers a seamless, self-service banking experience powered by advanced technology. Key features of the center include:

  • AI-Powered Humanoid Robots – Interactive robots assist customers with inquiries and navigation.
  • Video Banking Services – Customers can connect with relationship managers and customer service agents via real-time video calls.
  • Self-Service Kiosks – Customers can conduct transactions such as fund transfers without human assistance.
  • Instant Card Issuance Machines – Debit cards are issued in under three minutes.
  • Contactless ATMs – Fast and secure transactions using smart interactive screens.
  • AI-Driven Security – Artificial intelligence enhances fraud detection and transaction security.

FirstBank’s Managing Director/CEO, Olusegun Alebiosu, emphasized that these innovations align with global standards, positioning the bank as a leader in digital banking solutions.

“The Digital Xperience Centre is equipped with state-of-the-art features designed to provide a seamless and interactive banking experience,” Alebiosu stated.

The Evolution of FirstBank’s Digital Network

FirstBank launched its first Digital Xperience Centre in 2021 in Victoria Island, Lagos. Subsequent branches followed:

  • University of Ibadan (August 2023)
  • Abuja Wuse New Market (October 2023)
  • Banana Island, Lagos (March 2024)
  • Lekki, Lagos (March 2025)

These centers are part of FirstBank’s long-term vision to modernize Nigeria’s banking landscape, offering customers an alternative to traditional branch visits with an enhanced digital-first experience.

According to Abimbola Kunle-Ajayi, Group Head of Branch Operations and Services for Lagos and West, transaction processing times have significantly improved:

“A transfer that usually takes 15-20 minutes in a traditional branch can now be completed in less than two minutes. Card vending and ATM withdrawals are finalized within minutes, making banking more efficient for customers.”

FirstBank’s Commitment to Innovation and Sustainability

In addition to digital transformation, FirstBank is also investing in sustainable infrastructure. Earlier this month, the Lagos State Government granted approval for the construction of FirstBank’s eco-friendly headquarters in Eko Atlantic City.

This 40-story high-rise will become Nigeria’s tallest building, incorporating green technology and sustainable design, setting a new benchmark for financial institutions across Africa.

The Future of Banking in Nigeria

FirstBank’s Digital Xperience Centre network reflects a broader shift in Nigeria’s financial services industry, where banks are leveraging technology to remain competitive against fintech disruptors. By integrating AI, automation, and customer-centric innovations, FirstBank is positioning itself as a leader in the future of digital banking in Africa..
