Kenya Hosts First-Ever Startup World Cup Regional Competition
Kenya has marked a new chapter in its innovation journey by hosting its first-ever Startup World Cup regional competition—an event that celebrates the country’s rising influence in the global startup ecosystem.
Organized by the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA) as part of the Kenya Startup Festival, the event drew over 160 applications from innovative startups across various sectors. Following a rigorous selection process, ten finalists earned the spotlight, pitching their solutions live on stage at the festival.
The finalists represented a diverse range of industries, showcasing Kenya’s growing strength as a hub for entrepreneurial talent and disruptive innovation.
A Global Gateway for African Startups
The Startup World Cup, hosted annually by Pegasus Tech Ventures, is one of the most prestigious startup competitions in the world, featuring over 100 regional events across more than 60 countries. Its Grand Finale in San Francisco offers finalists not only international visibility but also the chance to compete for multi-million-dollar investment opportunities.
Kenya’s inclusion in this elite global platform is a powerful validation of its startup ecosystem’s progress—and a signal to investors that the country is ready for bigger stages.
As the ten startups advance to the Grand Finale, they do so with the backing of a nation proud of its innovation sector and optimistic about its global potential.
