Mercurie, a Software as a Service (SaaS) company, has introduced a new digital service management and payment platform to streamline operations and reduce costs for African enterprises. The platform allows businesses to manage and pay for global digital services in their local currency, eliminating foreign exchange hurdles and fragmented payment systems.
“Mercurie simplifies business software payments, eliminating currency conversion headaches for African businesses,” said Ayode Akinfemiwa, former Google executive and CEO of Mercurie. “Our platform consolidates all business-related digital service payments into one interface, significantly reducing administrative burdens and unlocking cost savings.”
Expanding SaaS Access in Africa
Since launching Adpay in August 2022—a solution that facilitated local currency payments for Google Ads—Mercurie has expanded its offerings to include Google Cloud and Google Workspace. Recognizing the challenges African businesses face when subscribing to global SaaS tools, Mercurie has now broadened its ecosystem to integrate with Zoho, Digital Ocean, Huawei, AWS, and other cloud service providers.
Mercurie’s new platform provides a centralized interface for businesses to make payments in local currency, manage multiple software subscriptions, and eliminate the hassle of handling multiple invoices and payment methods. Additionally, businesses gain access to expert support for software deployment, training, and ongoing optimization.
A Business Model Focused on Accessibility
Akinfemiwa explained that Mercurie’s revenue model is built on transaction fees and partner discounts.
“For some of our services, like paying for Google Ads, we charge a percentage of ad spend as our fees. For other services, such as Google Workspace and Google Cloud, we don’t charge customers any fees. In fact, we discount the subscription cost, making it cheaper for businesses that pay through us.”
By removing foreign exchange complexities and high transaction fees, Mercurie aims to make essential digital tools more accessible for African businesses. Early adopters have reported significant benefits, with one company cutting administrative costs by nearly 40% within three months.
Driving Digital Transformation in Africa
As operational costs rise for African startups, solutions like Mercurie’s platform offer a timely alternative to streamline expenses and optimize workflows. Many businesses struggle with payment difficulties when accessing global SaaS solutions, leading to inefficiencies and increased costs. By providing a seamless payment and management solution, Mercurie is helping African businesses navigate the digital economy more efficiently.
With its latest expansion, Mercurie is not just solving a payment challenge—it’s redefining how African businesses engage with the global digital marketplace, one transaction at a time.
