Meta dismisses claims of Zuckerberg resignation

Meta has dismissed as false rumours of the company’s CEO resignation in 2023.

Rumours had spread that the 38-year-old founder of the company, Mark Zuckerberg, was planning on leaving his role in 2023, but the social media giant has gone on to revoke those claims.

The rumours had speculated that his resignation would not impact the development of the metaverse, which Meta has spent significant sums of money on but hasn’t yet been rewarded.

Reacting to a post about the rumour, a Meta communication official, Andy Stone denied it, simply tweeting, “this is false.”

The news of the false rumour comes just weeks after Meta announced a mass layoff that would affect 11,000 employees.

Zuckerberg’s obsession in building the metaverse, has had investors worried, with many simply not believing that the company will pull it off.

The metaverse which is being built by meta’s Reality Labs, has consumed billions of dollars in funding and has only returned losses for the company so far.

Meta has lost over $800 billion from its market cap since the beginning of the year.
