Traders of Africa, AliExpress, and MoMo Partner to Revolutionize Nigeria’s E-Commerce Ecosystem

In a groundbreaking collaboration aimed at reshaping Nigeria’s e-commerce landscape, Traders of Africa (TOFA), AliExpress, and MTN MoMo have announced a strategic partnership designed to give Nigerian consumers access to global products, secure payment options in local currency, and reliable delivery services. This initiative marks a significant step in expanding e-commerce capabilities across the country, further connecting local buyers with international sellers.

Unveiled during a press conference in Lagos, the partnership promises to offer Nigerian shoppers a seamless and convenient online shopping experience. Uju Uzo-Ojinaka, Chief Executive Officer of TOFA, expressed her excitement about the collaboration, stating, “We are thrilled to bridge the gap between Nigerian consumers and global markets. Seven years ago, we set out to create an ‘Alibaba for Africa.’ Now, with AliExpress, Speedaf, and MTN MoMo, we have made that vision a reality.”

With this partnership, consumers in Nigeria can now access over 200 million products available on AliExpress, along with African-made goods, through the TOFA platform. By integrating MTN MoMo for payments in Nigerian Naira, and leveraging Speedaf for logistics, the collaboration offers a fully localized e-commerce experience. Shoppers will benefit from competitive pricing, exclusive discounts, fast shipping, and secure transactions—all tailored to suit the Nigerian market.

This new partnership isn’t just about providing access to global markets; it also aims to empower local entrepreneurs and boost economic development in Nigeria by enhancing the country’s digital infrastructure. According to Uzo-Ojinaka, this initiative represents a significant leap in Nigeria’s digital trade. “People can now buy not only African products but also over 200 million items available on AliExpress. This partnership ensures easy payment in local currency through MoMo and reliable delivery with Speedaf,” she said.

TOFA’s alignment with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) further reinforces its mission to make African products more accessible globally while providing local vendors the tools they need to compete in the international market. TOFA will serve as a facilitator, helping onboard vendors and consumers across the continent, driving Africa’s digital trade transformation.

The integration with MTN MoMo, a mobile payment service, ensures that Nigerian consumers can make secure transactions in their local currency, making international shopping more accessible. This feature, combined with Speedaf’s logistical services, allows for efficient deliveries directly to customers’ addresses across Nigeria. Geoffrey Jiang, Director of AliExpress Business Africa Key Account, emphasized the importance of this collaboration for Nigeria’s digital economy. “With TOFA, MTN MoMo, and Speedaf, we believe we can go far in supporting digital trade across Africa,” he said.

This partnership also promises significant benefits for Nigerian businesses looking to expand their reach. Usoro Usoro, Executive Director of Strategy at MoMo PSB, noted, “We are helping businesses like TOFA reach a wider audience by providing secure and seamless payment solutions.”

One of the standout features of this partnership is the ease with which Nigerian consumers can now shop internationally. Uzo-Ojinaka described the experience as “shopping without borders”, highlighting the convenience of accessing global products with just a smartphone. The partnership’s seamless integration of payment systems, logistics, and product availability reflects the growing sophistication of Nigeria’s e-commerce sector.
