The United Bank for Africa (UBA) Group has unveiled plans to extend its operations into Saudi Arabia and further expand across Africa in 2025. This announcement was made by Group Managing Director and CEO, Oliver Alawuba, during a send-forth dinner in Abuja honoring retired non-executive directors.
Currently, UBA serves over 45 million customers across 24 countries and employs more than 25,000 staff members. The upcoming Saudi branch marks a significant milestone as UBA continues its trajectory toward becoming a global banking powerhouse.
“Our chairman recently visited Saudi Arabia and confirmed that UBA would establish a branch there next year. Simultaneously, we aim to open more subsidiaries across Africa to strengthen our presence,” Alawuba shared, emphasizing the bank’s vision of sustainability and legacy.
With plans to operate in key African markets alongside this international expansion, UBA’s strategy underscores its commitment to deepening financial inclusion and fostering economic growth across the continent.
UBA Chairman Tony Elumelu highlighted the dedication of retired directors, crediting their contributions to the bank’s success. He said, “At UBA, we are more than just a bank—we are a family. These individuals have played pivotal roles in achieving milestones not only in Nigeria but also across Africa and globally.”
