Visa has appointed accomplished marketing professional, Rukevwe Toka as its Marketing Manager for West Africa. In this new capacity, Toka will spearhead various marketing programs, ensuring optimal client engagement, executing marketing initiatives, and strategizing activities in alignment with key priorities at Visa.
With an impressive track record, Toka was recently honored among Nigeria’s Top Ten Marketing Managers of 2023 by MARKETING EDGE. His focus on value creation and elevating brands to new heights underscores his standing as one of Nigeria’s premier marketing professionals. Leveraging the best marketing practices, Toka is dedicated to unlocking the growth potential of businesses.
His educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Benin and an MBA from the University of South Wales. Committed to continuous learning, Toka has earned certifications from globally renowned institutions such as INSEAD, The Wharton School, IBM, IE Business School, Google, and Northwestern Kellogg School of Management.
Over the past decade, Toka has showcased his expertise across diverse industries, including Technology, Consumer Goods, Telecommunications, and Media. He has achieved significant milestones while managing portfolios of some of the world’s most iconic brands.
Toka’s professional journey has seen him make impactful contributions to prominent companies such as The HEINEKEN Company, Unilever, and The Coca-Cola Company. His recent role involved leading strategy, driving revenue growth, and expanding the MAGGI brand in Nigeria—a market where MAGGI is among the largest seasoning and the preferred choice for consumers globally.
Notably, Toka holds several “firsts” in his career. He was the first Nigerian appointed as Head of Insights to pioneer The Heineken Company’s new agency model, the Heineken Digital Engagement Center, in Nigeria. Additionally, he became the first Nigerian appointed to Unilever’s Global People Data Center to pioneer its operations in West Africa. Toka also holds the distinction of being the first Nigerian appointed to The Coca-Cola Company’s new Human Insights function as a Shopper Insights Manager for the African Continent. Furthermore, he is the first Nigerian to join the Global Advisory Board of the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Council for Sub-Saharan Africa.
