Zenith Bank Plc has once again reinforced its reputation as a leader in Nigeria’s financial services industry by clinching the prestigious title of Best Bank in Nigeria at the Global Finance Best Banks Awards 2025. This marks the fifth time in six years that Zenith Bank is being honoured with this award, underscoring its consistency, resilience, and innovation in a fast-evolving global banking landscape. The award, presented by Global Finance magazine during its 32nd Annual Best Bank Awards, highlights the performance of banks that have not only managed their resources prudently in challenging economic conditions but also demonstrated foresight in shaping the future of finance. Zenith Bank stood out among winners from 36 African countries, a testament to its regional dominance and strategic direction.
Selection Criteria and Strategic Management
The winners were selected after a comprehensive evaluation by Global Finance’s editorial team, which consulted extensively with financial executives, analysts, and banking consultants worldwide. Criteria ranged from hard numbers like growth in assets, profitability, and geographic reach, to qualitative factors such as innovation, strategic partnerships, and customer service excellence. Despite global interest rate volatility and shifting market dynamics, Zenith Bank managed to sustain strong financial results while maintaining long-term growth strategies. According to Global Finance publisher Joseph D. Giarraputo, the winning institutions “excel in diversity of offerings, long-term stability, and technological innovation,” especially in the rapidly evolving digital finance space.

Commenting on the award, Dame (Dr.) Adaora Umeoji, OON, Group Managing Director and CEO of Zenith Bank, stated:
