Stanbic IBTC and NSACC Urge Stronger Nigeria-South Africa Collaboration on Energy Transition

In a strategic push for sustainable energy solutions across the African continent, Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc and the Nigeria South Africa Chamber of Commerce (NSACC) have emphasised the need for stronger collaboration. This call came during a high-level dialogue last week in Lagos, where business executives from Nigeria and South Africa gathered to discuss the theme, “Energy Transition: Identifying the Need and Financing the Opportunities.”

The session provided a platform for experts to share insights on addressing energy transition needs and exploring various financing opportunities to support sustainable energy projects across Africa.

Fostering Nigeria-South Africa Collaboration for Economic Growth

Wole Adeniyi, Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC Bank, highlighted the importance of strengthening ties between Nigeria and South Africa to foster sustainable economic development. Adeniyi noted that collaboration between both countries is essential for unlocking Africa’s economic potential, particularly in the energy sector.

“The financial sector plays a vital role in supporting cross-border investments and facilitating business transactions that are key to Africa’s economic integration,” Adeniyi said. “This is a significant step towards a future where Nigeria and South Africa leverage their collective strengths for the betterment of our continent.”

Unlocking Opportunities in Africa’s Energy Transition

Adeniyi highlighted that the collaboration between Nigeria and South Africa goes beyond overcoming challenges. It also opens up vast opportunities in the energy transition space, which could lead to increased economic prosperity for African nations.

“By joining forces, we position ourselves to address challenges with greater efficacy and to tap into the boundless opportunities that Africa holds; aiming for the prosperity of our populations,” Adeniyi said. “This collaborative spirit is not just about overcoming hurdles; it is about rewriting the narrative of our continent to highlight success, innovation, and sustainable growth.”

The event emphasised the need for more cross-border partnerships and investments, which will play a pivotal role in accelerating Africa’s transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.
